Downtown frontage and old-house glass, in the same city
Salt Lake City is the densest run of ground floor retail and office frontage anywhere we work. That means storefront glass, entrance doors and the hardware that goes with them, and it means the job is usually urgent, because a business with an opening onto the street cannot lock up at the end of the day.
Away from the commercial core the city gets old. Neighborhoods like the Avenues and Sugar House hold a lot of pre-war housing, and a lot of it still has the glass it was built with. Single pane sashes, steel frames, wavy old float glass that is beautiful right up until it cracks. Those openings are rarely square and almost never a catalog size, so they get templated rather than measured off a chart.
The practical consequence for you is that the two jobs run on different clocks. A broken storefront is a same day board-up and a call the moment the glass is cut. A period window is a measure, a conversation about what actually fits, and then an install that does not damage the frame around it.

We repair and replace window glass across Salt Lake City, for homes, offices and storefronts. Call (801) 678-5770, Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm. We measure the opening on site, quote in writing, and order the glass cut to that opening rather than fitting the nearest stock size.
How much does it cost to replace storefront glass in Salt Lake City?
Storefront glass is priced by the piece, so the opening decides the number. Downtown adds one variable most quotes miss, which is access: a street level pane on a busy block needs the load and the lift planned before the price means anything. We measure and price that in rather than adding it later.
Can a downtown storefront be boarded up the same day?
That is what we aim for, and it is the first thing we do rather than the last. Boarding is not the repair, it is what keeps the unit secure and trading while the replacement pane is cut and tempered. Call as soon as the glass goes. We are reachable Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm.
Can you replace glass in an older Salt Lake City home without replacing the window?
Usually yes, and on older housing stock it is the right answer. Openings in older Salt Lake homes settle and go out of square, so we template the actual opening instead of assuming a standard size. Where the frame itself has rotted or racked far enough that a new unit will not seal, we tell you that rather than glazing into a frame that will fail again.
